I'm Alex Wallace, owner and dog photographer for The Dogs By Alex, capturing beautiful dog portrait photography. Read more about my photography sessions below, and I look forward to meeting you and your special dog!
Overview
Unique to the industry, I travel to you and your dog with my mobile studio setup, allowing you both to feel relaxed in your own home. I feel this so important, and allows me to bond with your dog in their own environment.
I’m based in London but also cover Surrey, Kent and Sussex. You can read more about me here if you’re interested!
Pre-shoot consultation
Before each portrait session, we can discuss your requirements, from how I can bond with your dog through to creative choices of lighting and backgrounds. From dark and moody backgrounds to bright and fresh, from deep crimson to creams and blues, we can chat about what you would like and what would suit your dog’s portraits.
Perhaps most importantly, I like to find out about your dog - what they’re like in terms of character, how I can help us create a bond, and finding out important things like food allergies and behavioural needs.
The photoshoot
I bring my mobile studio setup to every session so it can be set up in a place that your dog, and you, feel most relaxed. Each shoot includes the full session (generally one to two hours long), plenty of water and treats, and patience! I want your dog to feel comfortable and let his or her personality shine through, so we can even go for a walk beforehand in the local park. My role as a dog photographer means I combine all my tips and tricks to provide you with beautiful portraits.
Your portrait collection
Following the shoot I’ll provide you with the full selection of images from our session. You can then pick your favourites to create your final bespoke dog photography package.

FAQ
My dog is anxious and/or reactive - can I still book a session?
In short, yes. I will discuss your dog’s needs in depth with you to make sure we bond and create a safe and relaxed experience. This is partly why I offer to join you for a walk beforehand - we can take our time and allow your dog to get used to me in their own time. The shoots are relaxed and not time-pressured for this very reason. I also have extensive experience with rescue dogs in volunteering in rescue centres, fostering and with my behavioural course.
My dog is not very well behaved! Can I still book a session?
Absolutely! Obviously it’s beneficial if your dog already knows ‘sit’ and ‘wait’, but I’m happy to take on the challenge myself. I’m always amazed at how a dog reaches a point in a photoshoot where they completely relax - you can tell when this moment happens. I only use positive training techniques, and with time, patience and rewards we can take some beautiful portraits.
